Dog Friendly Beaches And Swimming Holes On The Gold Coast
There are nine dog beaches in Moreton Bay, Brisbane City and Redlands Beach. There are also four beaches on nearby islands that require extra effort to reach.
The Moreton Bay region northeast of Brisbane has five dog-friendly beaches. Cross the bridge to Bribie Island and its beautiful beaches or choose from four beaches along Moreton Bay.
Probably the best dog beach from the east near Brisbane is Worim South Beach, or Bribie Island Dog Beach. This beautiful unbroken stretch of golden sand stretches for 4 km between Vorim Beach and Red Beach. Unlike other islands near Brisbane, Bribie Island is connected to the mainland by a bridge, so it’s easy to get to.
The easiest way to access Worim Beach South Road is to go to the end of Lowry Street. In Vorim. Dogs are allowed to the right of the entry point, next to the sand pump station. The beach is technically a “surf beach” but I got up to 30cm on the day I went surfing. There is also a convenient dog wash near the entrance.

Or head to Red Beach to access the dog beach. Red beach water is better protected and calmer. There is a beach a few hundred meters east of the first parking lot, which is clear before the beach section begins.
Bribie Island also has two dog beaches to the east. North of Vorim Beach, just north of the main dog-free section, dogs are allowed from the entrance at the north end of North Street to the 4WD access point. Additionally, dogs are allowed in Bellara on the Sylvan Beach Esplanade between Boronia Drive and Marina Boulevard, as well as the beach area.
If you turn south on the approach road to Bribie Island, you’ll reach the quiet neighborhood of Beachmere. The beach has two beaches, at the northern and southern ends of the beach. Both beaches are tidal mud flats, best seen at high tide.
We visited Beachmere South, marked on Google Maps as “Offlish Dog Beach at Beachmere”. The outdoor exercise area begins at the end of Biggs Avenue and continues to the mouth of the Caboolture River, although dogs are prohibited in the mangrove area. There is also a convenient grass park near the parking lot, which is convenient for viewing during high tide.

In the North, dogs are allowed on the beach, but Beachmere North must stay on the east side until they reach the exercise area. It is located at the north end of Lewis Drive and Bayside Drive.
Heading south, the next beach in the Moreton Bay Regional Council area is Deception Bay Foreshore. Like the North and South Beaches, this dog beach is a beach, best seen at high tide.
The Dog Beach section is located between Wallin Avenue and Joseph Crescent, or search for “Deception Bay Dog Beach” on Google Maps. By the time we arrived, there was an outside test on the front sidewalk, but it wasn’t until 8am. and after 4 p.m.
After Worim South Beach, the best dog beach in North Brisbane is probably Queens Beach North. This dog-friendly beach is located on the outskirts of Scarborough near Redcliffe.

Dogs jump at Queens Beach, just north of the Griffith Road ramp. They should be on the southern half of the beach. On weekdays it’s easy to pick the limit on the number of dogs in the north!
Instead of the muddy flats of most beaches in Moreton Bay, Queens Beach has smooth sand. It is also a rock around the low tide mark.
The coastal part of Brisbane currently has three beaches. Visit the Brisbane City Council website for a map of each zone, and updates on non-cooling zones.
The most northerly dog beach in the Brisbane City region is Sandgate Foreshore. A large part of the marshland in the suburbs of Sandgate and Shorncliffe has been designated as a dog activity area.

The northern end of Dog Beach begins at the corner of Flinders Parade and Second Avenue. The southern end is near the corner of Park Parade and Zeehan Street in Shorncliffe. There are several stairs leading to the dirty apartments.
Kedron Brook Swimming Area, Nuji Beach Beachfront, north of Brisbane Airport. The unguarded area is located next to the fenced Tucker Dog Park – search for “Nudgee Beach Dog Park” on Google Maps.
Kedron Brook is popular with local dog owners. We visited on a Sunday afternoon and there was even a coffee shop and dog washing machine doing business in the car park. Again, the beach is flat mud – don’t wear new shoes! The outlet section extends to the mouth of the river and is tidal, so it is best to be at high tide.
Please note that the trial dog area near Nuji Beach has been removed and there are no plans to rebuild.

The last dog beach in the Brisbane metropolitan area is Manly Dog Beach, south of Brisbane Airport. This dog beach is quite small and is best visited at low tide when it is large, but it is more of a sandy beach than a mud flat.
The beach runs along the southern side of the boat harbor between the stone walls at the end of Davenport Drive, next to Manly Boat Harbour. Search for “points of inspiration” in Manly on Google Maps.
In the Redlands City Council area, there are only two dog beaches on the mainland. However, there are three other great dog beaches on the islands off the coast.
Two mainland beaches along the Redlands coast are located just outside of Cleveland. My favorite option is the dog beach at Rabie Bay Foreshore Park with its sandy beach.

To find the part of the beach near the park where dogs are not allowed, search for “Raby Bay Dog Beach” on Google or look for the signs. The dog beach isn’t that big, so it can get crowded on busy days, but it’s still a decent size.
Another place to take your dog swimming in Cleveland is J.J. Walter Park. This large fenced dog park is located on the other side of Cleveland Point. The easiest access point is north, with a parking lot east of Shore Street, rather than south near the ferry terminal.
Although GJ Walter Park arguably has beach access, it’s not great when it comes to dog beaches. The landscaped park is surrounded by mangroves on one side, with access to the beach in the mangroves.
Visit one of the islands for dog beaches off the coast of Redlands. The easiest option is Coochiemudlo Island, a quick 10-minute ferry ride from Victoria Point Amity Traders. Dogs are allowed on the ferry
