Harborside has ample free parking, as well as car rentals in two garages. We like to park in the plaza under the bridge (Indiantown Road Bridge). It’s completely free, right on the water, and the car was covered the entire time we were standing.

One of the most dog-friendly places David and I have stayed is the Siena Hotel in Chapel Hill. They roll out the red carpet for your child and keep him entertained at home. This is a great place to relax or for guests coming from out of town and bringing their pets.
Umstead Park is another great place in Raleigh with many hiking trails of varying lengths and difficulty. Now that our boys are a little older, we like shorter routes. Parking is easy, and there are plenty of entrances near restaurants and breweries if you want to fill up later.
Wye Hill is definitely one of our favorite places to eat good food and watch the sun set over the Raleigh skyline. Pets are allowed. This place is especially interesting during the summer months because it is full of fans and gentlemen. In winter, this is one of the warmest fields in the city.
