If possible, plan your pet-friendly trip to Illinois during the fall. In September and October, daytime temperatures in the high 70s are perfect, the sky is a believable blue, and the hardwood tree leaves show their vivid colors. You don’t have to worry about snow until the end of November, and hotel rates tend to be lower during the fall, through the winter and during the spring peak season. Summers in Illinois are hot and humid, but this is when most of the state’s festivals and celebrations take place, and when most people visit the state.
