Although we put our big international trip on hold during the pandemic, we enjoyed getting reacquainted with the Seattle area and its wonderful (and dog-friendly!) vacation. After living in New York and Chicago for ten years, it’s been fun to come back and rediscover old favorite vacation spots, as well as see the new, innovative glitz, boutique hotels, and unique Airbnbs that have opened here. I’ve long dreamed of getting into one of those Instagram-famous A-frames, and this year I’m determined to make it happen. Thai River Cabin Co. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest offers three different beautiful A-frame cabins, all free. In 2019 we spent a happy Easter at Semiahmoo and I was looking for an opportunity to return to the beautiful sights and remote beach that Lizzie loves to explore. Just a short distance from the Canadian border, this convenient resort is an excellent base camp for scenic hikes and spectacular views of the northern Washington coast. Admittedly, Idaho is a long way from Seattle, but we will travel any distance to stop at this extensive research. Plus, the little touches like the on-site sauna and vintage coffee grinder really melt my heart.
