Hot Tub Lodges East Yorkshire
Ah yes, carp fishing holidays! It’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but I personally love it! The opportunity to go carp fishing in luxurious comfort (compared to a bivouac) is something I look forward to, let’s start with my favorite carp holiday spot, Cherry Lakes at Cotswold Water Park;
Cherry Lakes is located in the Cotswold Water Park in the village of South Cerney and is run by Mike and Judith Kirsch. There are four lakes on site with three of these exclusive to you when you book. The jewel in the crown is undoubtedly Cherry Lake itself, with only three landings and a beautiful cottage, there is plenty of room for everyone. I’m not sure what the current lake record is, but a 48 pound fish was recently caught! It pains me to think how many thirty years there are in there now, must be over 60, not bad for 5 acres!
Fishing the main lake is not easy, but given some thought, it should result in some fish on the bank, also catching fish from all over with no areas considered better than others.
My best from Cherry Lake is a group in the mid-thirties in April, multiple hits are common and the number of forty is increasing every year.
Norfolk Holiday Cottages
The other three lakes, Cherry Mere, Cherry Pool and Cherry Spring hold PLENTY of carp, arguably best described as running water, although like anywhere they can make life difficult for those with little regard for going fishing.
The accommodation is excellent, mainly one bedroom cabins, with a two bedroom guest house at Cherry Mere and the cottage, which sleeps 6 and has its own private pool just 25 meters from the hot tub. Apart from the fishing and luxury accommodation, the one thing I love about Cherry Lakes is that when the gate is closed behind you there is nothing but peace and quiet, we usually fish all night and in the morning before heading out for a walk . A few hours to explore the local area, Cherry Lakes is a place to really relax, but with the opportunity to catch the fish of your life.
Sumners Ponds is home to four lakeside cabins, each with their own character and charm, enjoying an exceptional location with their own private fishing porch. These fantastic lodges have fantastic views over beautiful Lake Sumners and offer a fisherman’s and nature lover’s paradise.
The four self-catering holiday cabins overlook Sumners Lake which is well stocked with carp up to and around 36lbs, bass, pike, roach, bream and pike, offering excellent fishing. Fishing from the cabins is included in your stay. However, guests can also fish in the other nearby lakes as long as they have purchased a fishing day ticket. All the residents of the house can use all the other facilities of the place.
Sumners Ponds Lodges For Carp Fishing
There are 3 other lakes and a split lake on site, with Lake Betty for the specimen carp angler with many twenties and thirties ahead.
The two newest lodges Iris and Lily are contemporary in design and offer light and airy accommodation with stunning views of the south east end of Sumners Lake.
Cozy Moorhen and Grebe Lodge are traditional Norwegian log cabins, also on the SW and NW ends of Sumners Lake, with wonderful views over the water.
All four lodges have their own wooden deck where you can enjoy breakfast at the dining table overlooking the water. The four cabins are bright and spacious, tastefully decorated and fully equipped to a high standard. The use of electricity and gas is included, as well as bed linen for each bed. Towels are not provided, so guests must bring their own dishwasher, trash cans, etc.
Dog Friendly Cottages Lake District
Two well behaved dogs are welcome at Moorhen and Grebe Lodge for a fee of £20 per week. Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed to stay at Iris and Lily Lodge.
Fishing licenses are not required to fish from your lodge decks. Permits are only required to fish elsewhere on the campsite. The fishing area allocated to the lodge would generally be sufficient for two anglers to share.
My family and I usually use the campground and play near one of the lakes, but we recently booked one of the fancy new cabins. Watch this space….
Last on my list of the best carp fishing lakes with lodges, Blackthorn Fishery is a beautiful 3.5 hectare Luxury Lodge carp fishery near Oswestry in North Shropshire on the Welsh border. If you are looking for unspoiled country in a quiet environment away from the noise of modern life, this is the place for you. Blackthorn Fishery was built specifically with carp fishing in mind. It is in a very remote location on private land with no public access. You sure have plenty of room when you fish Blackthorn. These tents have character pockets with a wide variety of braid patterns. The first fish were introduced in February 2011 up to 24 pounds. A new lake record of 41lb was set in June 2019, on 19th October we had 16 fish of 30lb+ including 2 x 40lb+ with most of the remaining fish being 25lb+.
The new lodges are designed to cater to couples looking for a luxury self-catering holiday and a relaxing fishing experience in a tranquil and unspoiled environment. The interior is simply amazing.
