Catherine Abbey Hannah Park’s 1.5 miles of sandy beaches are dog-friendly, provided the pooches are on a leash and there are plenty of access points. Katherine Abbey Hanna Park is home to one of East Florida’s most popular surf spots, The Poles. The park also includes the Dolphin Plaza, perfect for hosting a dog-friendly event, such as a wedding or large family gathering, on the beautiful beach.

Mickler’s Landing Beachfront Park, located in Ponte Vedra, is the area’s first public beach and is loved by locals for its pink coquina sand. Home to sand dunes that tower over its visitors an impressive twenty feet, Mickler’s Landing is the perfect place to discover the true habitats of Florida’s wildlife. Mickler’s Landing is a great place to bring your dog, although you must keep it on a lead and remember to pick up after it. Visitors also benefit from clean restrooms, outdoor showers and plenty of parking.
Just north of Jacksonville Beach, Neptune Beach is another public beach that caters to Jacksonville’s canine residents. Like Jacksonville Beach, Neptune Beach boasts beautiful ocean views. Visitors can surf, paddle board, dive, fish, kayak and swim, and best of all, they can bring their dogs. Dogs are allowed on Neptune Beach anytime from 1 October to 31 March and from 5pm to 9pm for the rest of the year. Dog owners should be careful to pick up after their pets and keep them on a leash and update them when giving their vaccinations.

The city of Port St. Joe is not that big and can be walked around the area in a few hours. We started at Baywalk, a gravel path that runs from Frank Pate Park to the marina with beautiful views of St. Joseph Pei. The trails will take you to the famous lighthouse of Cape San Blas, which was built 130 years ago and moved here in 2014.
One thing you don’t get in Port St. Joe can’t find a large hotel group on the beach. There are many pet-friendly hotel options, but most people choose vacation rentals for their stay.
Just nine kilometers south of the city of Port St. Joe, Salinas Park is a great place for dog walking on the beach. Amazingly calm, with sugary sand and gentle breezes – everything you need at a dog beach in the Florida Panhandle.
Leased dogs and pets are welcome on the beach all day, every day. Horses are also allowed here on the beach. There are many stalls in the parking lot selling rides.
Five Things To Know About The Best Pet Friendly Florida Beaches
Continuing west of Salinas Park, Cape San Blas juts out into the Gulf of Mexico. This narrow finger of land is protected by T.H. Stone Memorial St. Joseph Peninsula State Park.
The park has a pet-friendly campground, and pets are allowed on the picnic areas and nature trails. Surrounded by water on three sides, it’s a great place to sit and enjoy a picnic lunch.
Florida State Parks does not allow pets on the beach. But keep reading – there are plenty of public beaches and other places to explore!
Florida State Park Pets Policy Pets are allowed in the day use areas of most Florida state parks. Other, but not limited to, Eli Schiller Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park and Wicki Wachee Springs State Park. Pets must be kept on a leash no longer than six feet and must be kept calm at all times. Pet waste must be properly sorted and disposed of by pet owners. Pets are not allowed on the beach or playgrounds, swimming areas, homes, park buildings or drop off areas. 10 Dog Friendly Beaches Near Orlando
The 28-mile barrier island of St. George is divided into three parts. St. George Island State Park preserves the eastern nine miles. The central area has access to the beach, residential areas, restaurants, shops and other businesses. Western End is a private residential community with its own airport and some of the most expensive homes on the Gulf of Mexico.
Our first stop at the park, we also noticed that the campgrounds and trails are pet friendly, but the beaches are not. Still, it’s nice to have a little variety, and our dogs really enjoyed the 2.5 mile trail at Gap Point through the pine forest. (Parking is at the campground, and the trail goes to the left of the playground.)
After your walk, it’s time to hit the pet-friendly beach again! Return to the city of St. George, the entire public beach is pet-friendly – all day, all year!
