The weather in Palm Springs is good throughout the year, but there is a particular time that is considered the best time to visit – winter and spring. Palm Springs has a special feel in winter, which occurs in November – January, because while the rest of the country faces cold temperatures and snow, Palm Springs emerges with sunshine and temperatures of 65-75 degrees.
When traveling to Palm Springs with your dog, I don’t recommend visiting anytime after March. Unless your only plan is to be in the pool the entire time during your visit. Summer temperatures are typically 100℉ and can reach 115℉ with less than 10% humidity.

This is the most dog-friendly restaurant we’ve ever visited for two reasons: 1) the dog menu is excellent and offers fresh food to accommodate common protein allergies, and 2) dogs are allowed to eat in their atrium, which is perfect. . We were welcomed with open arms as soon as we walked in the door and the cafe was decorated with dog-centric decorations and items. We enjoyed our cake and coffee inside the cafe with Rue as she buried her heart with the teacup dog. Purchases from the cafe support their efforts to give back to local shelters, furthering their mission of bringing coffee, good food and connection to the Palm Springs community.
The Moorten Botanical Garden is a private botanical garden created to share the beauty and unique desert plants with all visitors. Typical desert plants, trees and cacti are found worldwide and range in size from small to huge. They are home to the world’s first cactus – my favorite part of the garden – and allow dogs throughout the garden.
Parking for the park is on the corner across the street from the S Palm Canyon Dr. entrance. Admission is $5/person and dogs are free. This small garden can be explored with a leisurely stroll in 30 minutes. We spent a bit more time here as I was busy taking pictures in the palace. If you visit during the week, you’ll have better luck with less crowds.
