Spread across 28 acres, there are many one, two and three bedroom detached holiday homes to choose from, many of which are dog friendly. Up to two dogs can stay at Stonerush Lakes, ideal for multi-dog families. The lodges are peaceful and quiet, finished to a high standard both inside and out. Whether you choose a cabin by the lake or decide to stay in the heart of the valley, the views will always be spectacular!

The dogs and I stayed at 3 Valley View, a contemporary family lodge at the back of the estate. Finished with laminate flooring throughout (except the bedrooms which are carpeted) for easy cleanup after mud walks. I really appreciated how easy it was to close off sections at night, such as bedrooms, when the dogs got wet. There was plenty of room for them in the outdoor living area to dry off after our walks.

Golita Falls is one of our favorite places to walk in south east Cornwall. It would be rude not to make the 20 minute drive while we were staying at Stonerush Lakes. Their sister site, Southern Halt, is also on the way: another luxury country escape for dogs. We also visited Lantic Bay for the first time during our stay. It was a bit of a climb to the beach, but the pristine coastline was definitely worth it!

The lodges at Stonerush Lakes are equipped with all modern cooking facilities. A dishwasher and utensils are also provided, making self-catering easy. Alternatively, there is also an on-site restaurant and bar offering a variety of hearty meals throughout the year, as well as a takeaway service for guests.

The master bedroom was spacious and airy, with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the private terrace. There was more than enough room to fit Woody’s crate inside, something we always travel with as otherwise he tends to jump on the bed in the middle of the night!

The outdoor space was not fully protected as there was no gate. However, in my opinion, Woody and Hen still stand out. We enjoyed the view together every morning drinking Cornish tea. There was also a hot tub built into the deck which proved to be the perfect place to relax after a hard day of adventures with the dogs! The property is a short drive from Looe, Liskeard and the traditional fishing villages which hug the south coast of Cornwall. . The nearest, Looe, has all the attractions you would expect from a small holiday resort with fishing and ice speedboat trips…

The town is built in the Looe River Valley, with steep hills and narrow streets full of character. There is a great sense of community here too. In 2018, local residents came together to organize Looe Saves the Day, an event on the site of the canceled Looe Music Festival. It’s easy to get between the two cities on foot, but there’s also a dog-friendly ferry. The cost is just 50 cents per person and dogs can travel for free.
