For each vacation spot on the list, I’ve explained why it works for families and even get you started planning a few recommended places to stay or things to do!

The cost of a family vacation depends on many factors. Are you traveling or flying? Whether you plan to visit a lot of paid places or you plan to do a lot of free things. And where do you live? A five-star resort will cost more than a cheap hotel stay.

There are many factors that determine how long a family vacation should be. Some studies show that vacations should last eight days to get the most out of your time.
However, in some families, you may have a limit based on how many days off you have from work or school. Hotels can also add up quickly, so longer vacations will mean more money spent on travel.
For our family, we like to plan our main family vacations around seven to eight days depending on travel time. If we had flown several days earlier, we would have needed more days to see where we were going.

But I have to be honest, on the seventh day most of us feel homesick and tired. You don’t want to be so busy on vacation that you feel like you need a vacation after your vacation!

I know that work and financial responsibilities can affect how often you take family vacations. And even if you go away on weekends, you will remember your children and get something new!

The Best Places For A Family Vacation In March (2023)
While all-inclusives are popular in the Caribbean (check out our vacation at Moon Palace Jamaica), they’re not common in the United States. There are many resorts all over the US that are family friendly. Please note that some only have a selection of all packages that you can add to your booking.
All 50! I’m kidding a bit here, but honestly, I think all 50 states offer amazing discoveries that families can benefit from. I think the best state for your family vacation depends on what type of vacation you are looking for.
The US offers states with amazing national parks (like Montana and California), others with beautiful beaches and oceans or lakes (like Florida or Michigan), and others that offer educational opportunities. amazing history (like DC and Alabama).

One of our family’s favorite trips is a trip along the California coast. We all love Northern California. The towering redwood trees in Redwood National Parks are spectacular. And there are plenty of family tours that immerse you in these heroes.

Fort Bragg’s Glass Beach is a special place that makes for awesome family photos! Nearby McKercher State Park invites kids to get outside, explore, and enjoy nature. And you can see whales at the right time of the year!
Northern California is also home to the Lassen Volcanic National Park, where kids can see incredible volcanic activity and wade through beautiful waterfalls.
The Best Places To Take Your Family On Vacation This Summer
If you’re looking for a lake vacation, check out Shasta Lake or Whiskeytown Lake. Families will love paddling and soaking up the sun in one of these two large pools.
Estes Park, Colorado is a great vacation destination for families looking for a country vacation with beautiful towns and great country day trips. Estes Park is home to Rocky Mountain National Park, one of Mia’s favorite parks. It is full of exciting tours, beautiful scenery, and lots of wildlife.
Estes Park is a beautiful town and Main Street has many tourist shops, including some great candy and ice cream shops. They also have a fun pika hunt to keep the kids entertained while you walk the high street.
And when you’re ready for some city inspiration, head to Denver. It’s about an hour and a half away and it’s a great way to spend your vacation in nature and sightseeing. If you have any NFL fans, they can also book the Broncos Stadium Tour.
How To Take An Awesome San Diego Family Vacation
One of my top picks for the best family vacation spots in the US is Oahu. This Hawaiian island is located in Honolulu, but there are many other things for families to explore. If you want a great Hawaiian experience, Oahu is the place to find it.

Getting to the island is easy since many major airlines fly to Honolulu, East Coasters may need a short layover in California if they want to avoid a long flight.
Some of our favorite things to do on Oahu are to hike to Diamond Head, go around the island, bowl oysters, and of course, shave ice.
The Best Places For A Family Vacation In November (2023)
You’ll also find plenty of beach and rock vistas to spice up your day. Popular spots include snorkeling in Hanauma Bay, watching swimmers on the North Shore, and taking long walks in Kaualoa Park and Secret Island.
Many families choose to stay at Waikiki Beach in Honolulu, but some may choose Disney’s Aulani, which is about 45 minutes from Honolulu. Or you might want to catch the Polynesian Cultural Center or Disney’s Aulani Luau.
A little maybe since we live in Seattle, but I think it is a fantastic city for family vacation. Families will enjoy exploring the Seattle Center area of ​​the city where they can visit some of the best attractions.
