Add to that the Black Dog – the popular gastropub-come-boozer tucked away on Glasshouse Walk, just outside Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens. It is a hidden gem much loved by the locals and a real local feature.

The oak-style bar offers a range of premium ales, English ciders, country wines and budget-friendly wines, and the pub’s interior is cozy and lively, with fairy lights, hanging plants and brass pendant lights. to happiness.

The sun was shining on this September Sunday lunch, so I have to say that their ‘ice’ – a sweet fruit filled with crushed ice – was just what the doctor ordered to start our meal.

The smells from the kitchen are so dreamy, I’m torn between chicken and meat, but I have to choose beef. My partner tried the half chicken (there’s a veggie option too) and it was just as good, and the portions packed here were huge – filling holes! Plus £21 for beef and £19 for chicken – great value! As if the appetizers weren’t enough, we ended up with an affogato for dessert, which was topped with three scoops of gorgeous ice cream and espresso. A good end to lunch, I say!

I have to say, if you’re looking for a Sunday roast, and you’re south of the river, I recommend going to the Black Dog. It’s a nice, quiet place – not always like that anywhere else in town – with a Sunday roast, very friendly staff and some great drinks on the menu.

They also serve tapas, pub fare and even ‘Steak Saturday’ where you can get a 400g T-bone steak and a side of fries for just £19. Add red wine and want anything else? Honestly, when people ask me what to do this weekend? If it were the height of summer, Camden would be one of the last places I would choose. He is busy, human, and has little brains.
