Most are located in caravan parks, while some are cabin parks only. While not comprehensive, we hope this will give you some ideas on where to take your dog on your next vacation.

Many caravan parks near Sydney do not allow pets, so it’s no surprise that there aren’t many pet-friendly cabins near Sydney. Check out these options within a two-hour drive of Sydney.
Geringong, south of Kiama, is just a two-hour drive south of Sydney. Wherry Beach holiday park is a lovely dog friendly caravan park. In addition to allowing pets on site, the caravan park also has three two-bedroom pet-friendly cabins.
You need to book directly when you book a cabin with you. Please note that dogs are only allowed in the park outside of school holidays and public holidays in Upper NSW.
Dog Friendly Byron Bay
One of the best things about staying at Wherry Beach Holiday Park with your dog is that it is opposite Wherry Beach. There is also the off-leash Rusland Park and the dog-friendly Kiama Beach Walk nearby.
The other Kiama Beach holiday park run by Kiama Council has recently started allowing pets in some of its cottages. At Surf Beach Holiday Park, select 2 bedroom cottages are pet friendly, for an additional $25 per night.
The park is just a short walk from Kiama town center and the famous blow hole. However, note that the nearby beach does not allow dogs on the sand, although there is an off-leash dog training area at the nearby Kaleula Reservoir.
Reservations are mandatory by calling or emailing the park directly. As with Wherry Beach Holiday Park, pets are only allowed during the quieter season.

If you want to go north of Sydney, Traeth y Gof Holiday Park is a dog-friendly caravan park between the Central Coast and Newcastle. I camped in the park in an RV before, but there are also two dog-friendly cabins.
Both pet-friendly cabins have a doggie door to an enclosed patio, along with a dog bed and water bowl. Some species are prohibited, so it’s a good idea to call ahead before registering to check the rules. However, there are no maximum time limits.
The park is just a short walk from the sheltered Traeth y Gof, and a short walk (or long walk) from Traeth y Cûn at the north end of town. There is a dog wash on site.

There aren’t many pet-friendly caravan parks in the Port Stephens area, but an interesting pet-friendly caravan park in the region is BIG4 Bays Holiday Park in Anna Bay, although unfortunately pets are not allowed during busy periods, including school holidays in NSW. and long weekends.
In addition to being allowed in non-motorized and non-motorized locations, dogs are also allowed in kennels and designated walks. The Forrester-Tunkuri Twins are a fun destination to visit with your dog. There are plenty of dog-friendly beaches and cafes and plenty of pet-friendly cottages to stay with your pooch by your side.
A caravan park offering pet-friendly cabins is Lanny’s Holiday Island on the lake in Forster. Regularly recommended among dog owners, pets are allowed in selected cabins. Choose from pet-friendly cabins, villas and cabins, each accommodating up to four or five human guests. Make sure linen is provided.
Up to two pets are allowed per booking, with no seasonal restrictions – get in early if you want a summer holiday with your dog!
Hodge Lodge Grounds Johns River
Another great dog-friendly park in Forster-Tunkuri is Discovery Parks – Forster, located north of town on the Darawank River. Dogs are welcome to stay in the park throughout the year, in designated areas and in designated cabins.
Cabins where dogs are allowed are clearly listed on their website – look for the “Dogs OK” sign. Even the luxury riverside cottages allow pets! Note that an additional fee applies, and usually only one dog is allowed per booking, but double check with management if you have two pups.
The park has many additional amenities for dogs (although families will love the newly opened pool and splash park). There is a sheltered dog park, a self-service dog dry area (for a fee) and a Discovery Barks walk every Sunday at 08.00.
Heading north, Diamond Water Caravan Park is 40 minutes south of Port Macquarie on the Camden Haven River near Laurieton. It is a beautiful place surrounded by forest and welcomes dogs all year round, although cats are not allowed to protect the local wildlife.

Dog-friendly cabin options include 4-person premium cabins, 5-person superior cabins and 6-person budget cabins, as well as the new Tiny Houses, perfect for couples with small dogs. Dog-friendly options are clearly listed.
The park is adjacent to the dog-friendly Lish Muni Beach, but has a convenient dog washing area. If you’re staying at your place for a while, there are plenty of things to do around Coffs Harbour.
Dog-friendly Camping Parks Nsw
Just down the road from Coffs Harbor and Moonee Beach is Woolgoolga, home to Lakeside Woolgoolga Holiday Park. Pets are welcome in the park almost every year, except for December 20 and January 14, as well as the Easter long weekend.
In addition to pet-friendly sites, pets are welcome in three types of cabins: Water View Villas (only those designated as pet-friendly) and the old Banksia Cabins and Lake View Cabins. Each cabin accommodates five people.
Dogs are allowed to swim on the nearby beach – try to see the remains of Buster’s wreck (see my Coffs Harbor guide) and on Woolgoolga Back Beach outside the Little Tern breeding season. Plus, there’s a new dog wash!
Yamba is a quiet, relaxed beach town on the far north coast, but with all the facilities you need, including an excellent dog-friendly caravan park. Yamba Saltwater BIG4 accepts pets year-round at non-motorized campsites and an increasing number of cabins.
