The Wishing Well is a charming little cottage for two located in Millgate, in the Georgian town of Richmond, North Yorkshire. Each house on this street is different, built at different times, but they all overlook the steep bank that ends at the River Swale. Known as the gateway to the Dalles, Richmond is an ideal base for exploring all that this beautiful part of Yorkshire has to offer.
Properties such as The Old Dairy, in the village of Sutton-under-Whitestonecliffe, near Thirsk, are particularly suitable for pet-friendly accommodation. Situated on the edge of the wetlands, it is close to a range of walking trails for all abilities and a steam railway for an old-fashioned day out. Its interior design enhances the feeling of light, while a soothing color palette induces relaxation. And a folding gate ensures your curious pup won’t wander out of the large garden.
The valleys, like the moors, offer countless opportunities for walks and the proximity of lakes (a boon for swimming breeds such as labradors and spaniels). Parties at Brownbear Hall can accommodate up to 15 guests with up to two dogs. A stylish choice, the property has been featured in publications including The Sunday Times, The Telegraph, The Guardian, Condé Nast, Harper’s Bazaar, Vanity Fair and Marie Claire. Brownbear, the private chef, will prepare delicious meals, special picnics and even luxury dog treats for you all.
The wider Brownburr estate now includes Hall’s larger neighbour, Brownburr House. Former Soho architect Georgina Rose recently renovated the house, which includes a useful shoe room for drying off muddy pups before heading into the living room for the evening.
