Many people ask me what is my favorite place to visit with my children. Honestly, this is a difficult question to answer. My children have been traveling with us for years. I still remember our son taking climbing lessons in South Lake Tahoe. We joke that they have become better travelers than us now that they can carry on every trip!

Each visit brought new memories and exciting experiences. I am fortunate to be able to explore some of the most beautiful places in California with my husband and children. Traveling with kids takes a lot of planning and before every trip I usually do a lot of research to find the most family friendly places. Yosemite National Park is my favorite place to visit in all of California. No matter how many times we go, I am still amazed by the beautiful scenery, beautiful waterfalls, and hidden scenes. The good news is that a trip to Yosemite National Park is cheaper than other places in California and it’s also kid-friendly! Although you have to pay an entrance fee, you can bring snacks and food to keep food and travel without paying extra. If you are planning to visit this summer, reservations are required, so plan accordingly.
We recently went to San Francisco for the first time since 2016. I did a lot of research beforehand and we made the decision to do mostly outdoor activities to avoid the mask and vaccinations at that time. A family trip to San Francisco can be expensive, but it’s worth it! My kids love to walk across the Golden Gate Bridge, see the Palace of Fine Arts, look at the mountains, go to Golden Gate Park, and play on the beach. I also recommend visiting the zoo and checking it out if you have small children!
Pismo Beach is one of my favorite towns in California. Pismo Beach Pier is fun and kid-friendly, with an amusement park and delicious restaurants. Oceana River was also a big hit with our kids! You can also explore the nearby areas of SLO, Avila Beach, and Morro Bay.
Oakhurst is a hidden gem of a town located south of Yosemite National Park. We spent the weekend enjoying Bass Lake, eating delicious food at some of the most beautiful places in Oakhurst, and enjoying the quiet of the mountains with our kids. North of Oakhurst you can take a scenic train ride through the Sierra Nevada. Oakhurst also offers fun activities such as ax throwing and trail riding.
