Dog-friendly Outer Banks

Located near one of my favorite towns in the country (Yellow Springs) is John Bryan. The park has hiking trails, a campground, mountain bike areas, and even a climbing wall. The Little Miami River runs through it and the park offers great hiking options for your dog for the day.
My favorite dog walking trails are the Rim Trail and the Gorge Trail. With the many words of the name “Pittsburgh Cincinnati State Coach Trail!” Please note that the nearby Clifton Gorge nature reserve does NOT allow dogs, so be careful when approaching this area.

Top Dog Friendly Vacations In Florida (vacation Inspiration!)
The Buckeye Trail is a National Scenic Byway that stretches for miles through the park. The Grandma Gatewood Trail is named after famous Appalachian Trail hiker Grandma Gatewood. And the Old Man’s Cave is world famous.
Conkles Hollow is the only dog-free area in the park that I know of. It’s a great trip, but know if your dog is ready to sleep in the cabin!
This park is named after the “seal” emblem of Ohio. The emblem of the seal is three peaks that seem not difficult to climb. As someone who has climbed and run up and down, they are HARDER than they look.
This is another great state park that offers dog-friendly horseback riding, a disc golf course, camping, archery and more.
Dog Friendly Atlantic Canada Hiking Trip
Sugarloaf Mountain Loop and Shawnee Ridge are my favorite trails. They are steep when short dogs climb friendly! If you enjoy running, The Buck Fifty is an all-night relay race through this part of the state that I LOVE!
Pair this state park with time in Athens, Ohio. Or combine it with the Hocking Mountains for two of Ohio’s best dog-friendly State Parks for hiking.
Lakeview and Sundown trails are my favorites and the parking lot has all the options leading up to it. There is also a lake in the middle of the park. The fall foliage is beautiful here and this park is easy to get to and from in West Virginia.
For those near Cincinnati and Dayton Ohio, this park is a winner. Trail options are available for dog-friendly hiking, waterfall tracking, swimming, kayaking, tent camping and cabin options.

Horseshoe Falls is the most popular hike in the park and an amazing waterfall to see in person.
One thing that is definitely missed about the state of Ohio is the availability of many dog walking opportunities. The West Coast of the United States needs further validation and research. Ohio had very few restrictions and very few concerns for your dog’s safety while riding (outside of TICS!)
