Best Dog Getaways – Something about January makes me want to sit down and look at the calendar and plan tons of trips for the year ahead. It’s cold and dark outside, and there’s something very satisfying about sitting in front of your laptop and planning some adventures.

Although our major international travel has been disrupted during the pandemic, we enjoyed reacquainting ourselves with the Seattle area and all of its wonderful (and dog-friendly!) resorts this weekend. After living in New York and Chicago for a decade, it’s so fun to come back and rediscover old favorite hangouts, as well as see all the new hot glamping spots, boutique hotels, and unique Airbnbs popping up here. Most importantly, I was glad to see that many of them have dog-friendly options for your stay. I was so happy when we could take Dave and Lizzie on vacation.

Take your friends to one of our favorite resorts in the area and experience the magic of Wine Country. We have been going to Sgriff for weekends since 2015 and it never disappoints. With over 120 wineries, Walla Walla is one of the top wine regions in the country, so I really can’t think of a better place to spend a few days. We’ve blogged about how much we loved Getaway Tiny Houses in the past, and we’re keeping an eye on a new location in Skagit Valley. Honestly, the waterside fire pit at the Cohoe Beachfront Hotel stole my heart. Although this Oregon Coast inn is a short drive from Seattle, its beautiful, modern interior and sweeping Pacific views make it worth the trip. My New Year’s resolution is to book a stay at the Dream Lodge in St. Edward as soon as possible – which should be easy since it’s only a half-hour drive from the city. I have always dreamed of being on one of A’s famous Insta Primes and I am determined to make it happen this year. Tay River Cabins Ltd. offers three different stunning A-frame cabins located in the heart of Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest, all three cabins are pet friendly (fees apply). But a word to the wise – considering that each of their fabulous Insta posts gets thousands of likes, it may be difficult to get an invite. Pet information is listed below each cabin’s description.

We spent a delightful Easter weekend in Semiahmoo in 2019 and I look forward to opportunities to return to the beautiful scenery and remote beaches that Lizzie loves to visit. Just a short distance from the Canadian border, this laid-back resort is the perfect spot for hiking and enjoying spectacular views of Northern Washington’s coast. They are very dog-friendly and pups are welcome to use their own bowl, bed and (at least during our visit) some souvenirs. More information about dogs can be found here.

I love one-of-a-kind vacations, and Winthrop’s Rolling Cabin definitely fits the bill. The tiny homes were designed by Seattle-based Olson Kundig Architects as a modern alternative to camping.
