I’m a photographer which means I’m always looking for beautiful places and beautiful beaches or parks that work well for photography. See examples of my dog photography. I reached out to my friends on Instagram and compiled a list of hikes that you just have to explore with your dog. Thanks to everyone who suggested their favorite places to walk their dogs.

Dog-friendly Dc: Best Places To Bring Your Pets
Unless otherwise stated, provided the park allows dogs but must be on a leash at all times, read on for the best outings in Auckland.
If you’re looking for one of the best views in Auckland, North Head in Devonport is your place. From the top of North Head you can see the harbor at Devonport, the beach at Cheltenham, Rangitoto Island and the city of Auckland. There are some historical items from naval batteries. If you choose to use old bunkers and tunnels in your photos, it will add beautiful texture and different colors to your photos which are usually green landscapes.
You can walk along the beach from Milford Reserve to Takapuna Beach. You will enjoy uninterrupted views of the Hauraki Gulf and Rangitoto.
The Milford-Takapuna walk is best at low tide (check low tide when planning your walk) as the rocks are exposed and the path dry. Most of the time it is flat and easy, although there are some parts where the road is rocky and rough and can be slippery.

Dog Walking Rules: Leashed dogs are allowed on Milford Beach year round; Dogs are only allowed on Takapuna Beach in the summer between 5pm and 10am.
You can choose to walk back or take a bus/uber back to your car. Maybe someone in your party can keep the car while you wait with your dog.

It is a large forest with many different paths that you can walk. Dogs can be on a lead but make sure they are well recalled as there is horse riding that takes place in the woods and dog walks.

If your dog likes puddles, you will get a brown dog. Note that it can be muddy after heavy rain.
It is a large open beach where dogs can run freely. To get to the remote area, you have to walk through the forest. When you get to the pond, all the beaches are dog beaches. I recommend you go here if you have time to wash your furbaby afterwards. Quite a drive, but it’s a beautiful beach and an overall nice place. My family had so much fun here!

The Mercer Bay Loop is a popular walking area known for its beautiful views of the rugged coastline and beautiful shade. You’ll find great places to get the perfect photo for your dog’s camera roll.
Muriwai Regional Park has many hiking trails and breathtaking views from the beach and fur seals. There are some great spots for photos both on the beach and behind it.
Best Dog-friendly Lakes In California
Waikumete Cemetery in NZ’s largest cemetery. It may seem like an odd place to walk your dog or take pictures, but the surrounding park is a peaceful place, with many paths filled with mature trees. It’s a great place to get away from the hustle and bustle and enjoy the wind in your hair. Lots of space for you and your dog to explore. You can see the city skyline from part of it.
The Wintergardens have 2 Victorian conservatories overlooking the courtyard. Dogs are allowed to walk through the greenhouse with you while you enter the beautiful flower garden or enjoy the tropical garden with rare specimens. If you have a large DSLR camera, the lens may get lost in the tropical greenhouse, but you’ll be able to create beautiful portraits with just your phone.
The Ferery next door is a completely different place, but still a favourite. Instead of colors in your photos, you’ll have lots of dark greens, some browns, and lots of moody hues.

The Parnell Rose Garden is also known as the Dove Myer Robinson Garden. It has more than 5000 roses that form a colorful sea in summer and spring. November is the most popular time.
Cornwall National Park revolves around one of New Zealand’s iconic volcanoes. It is a heritage site and a large working farm with beautiful paths with old trees. Dogs must always be on a leash because they are pets.
In the fall, be sure to see Belvedere’s Wisteria Archway, cherry blossoms and daffodils on Twin Oak Drive.
Best Dog Friendly Locations
August is your best time to see pink magnolias in bloom. You’ll find them next to the Cornwall Park Cafe. Find a map of the park here.
Onehunga Bay Reserve is a large open area with wide paths and bridges. A quiet area where dogs can swim in the lagoon. Enjoy morning/evening walks overlooking the harbour.
Plant lovers will love exploring this huge garden with its amazing botanical collection. There is a dedicated off-lead area (north of the garden) at the Auckland Botanic Gardens if your dog wants to burn off some extra energy afterwards. Read the best dog parks in Auckland here. An excellent place for a picnic. I personally like to visit the spring flowers, magnolias, colorful camellia and kōwhai. If you follow the Auckland Botanic Gardens on Facebook they have flower updates.
The best time to visit is spring to see the garden come to life. Spring Blossom Valley traditionally blooms in late September. Flowers and roses are a photographer’s dream! Autumn leaves in spring also make the place special.
Dog Friendly Picnic Spots In Singapore
They have many gardens to enjoy. Their African Botanical Garden, Magnolia Garden (best in August), Rose Garden (summer and fall) and Potter’s Children’s Garden to name a few favorites.
Enjoy a stroll between rows of fragrant lavender flowers at Waikato’s dog-friendly Waihi Lavender Farm. Admission is free and dogs on a leash are welcome. There is a really cute cafe with delicious food, but make sure you try the blueberry lavender ice cream. If you like the scent of lavender, you will find something to buy in their gift shop. Everything from lavender massage oil, face products, handmade soaps, candles and more. The Lavender Farm is open from December to the end of January, but check their social media pages for details and exact dates.
Don’t forget to buy your tickets to the dog-friendly Bloom Festival at English Cherry Tree Manor in Hamilton before they sell out. I’m going this year, looking forward to seeing and taking pictures! The dates for 2023 are September 23-24, September 29-October 1 and October 7-8.
