Number one: Pamper your dog. Many people come into the living room, let the dog run, and then later get caught and injured (at the expense of the dog’s health and well-being – think sprayed by a skunk, hit by a car/boat, dog. fight, face full of ants, etc.)
Teach them something new (Maybe it’s the first time you’ve done homework at home. It adds something new. Enjoy.)
Set up agility equipment and teach your dog how to use it (or just make “jungle agility” with sticks and logs to play with.)

If properly trained, your dog should know how to rest, not guard the treasure, in his bed. The beds can be used indoors and outdoors to create a peaceful environment for everyone.
Thresholds If your dog is currently knocking on doors in front of people (front door, gate, car door, etc.), he is in control. Write down and record the thresholds. Your dog must wait for approval before entering and exiting.
If your dog barks at passers-by and visitors because he is afraid, stand your ground. Don’t let people rush into his intimate space if it makes him uncomfortable. Use a crate and place to keep your puppy safe around all these new (and often drunk and excited) people.
